Dear All,
I am using this thread for the following question.
I have a Fanatic Shark HRS 130 l 2017 board, 70 cm wide, 46 cm fin, cca 10 kg heavy windsurf board. I have 81 kg. I am doing waterstarts, planing with harness lines, doing easy easy tacks and still learning jibes. I also have a new powerful low end sail Ezzy Cheetah 8.5 with deep profile.
I am looking for some other windsurfing freeride board to improve my early planing in light winds (10-12 knots and above ...). I would like to gain as much as possible early potential with my new board, but still contain the balance with control/stability/manoeuvrability. Hence I believe the Gecko 146 (46 cm fin) would be too large for my weight and skills. I am therefore thinking to get the Fanatic Gecko 135l (LTD or HRS) 79 cm wide 42 cm fin. The board is 9 cm wider, but has 4 cm shorter stock fin than my Shark 130. Would the Gecko 135 plane much earlier than my Shark 130 by using the Ezzy Cheetah 8.5 sail?
I am concerned that, due to the 4 cm shorter fin, the difference in early planing between the boards with this sail size and type would not be as significant as I would expect from a much wider Gecko. Probably the LTD version of the Gecko 135 would also make a positive impact in early planing due to the smaller board weight.
Thank you and best regards.
