Hi Tim,
Sounds good, thanks for thinking of us. Ok, if you want to have compatibility, I can suggest the following, given the wind ranges you are looking at:
- Foil for light wind windsurfing, take the new Flow 1500 with 90cm Flow mast
- Foil for medium wind 18-30knot wingfoiling - the Aero Foil 1250 should do the job there, as that is pretty windy for wing foiling, if you have some experience already, then the 1250 is probably big enough, esp over 25knots. With the 75cm Aero Mast.
- Sky Wing you could probably get away with the 5'0" x 75L if you have some wing foiling experience, otherwise the 5'4" x 95L offers a bit more volume - what do you weigh?
- 4.0 Echo sounds about right for that range yes.
- Sting Ray 125 for someone who can windsurf foil already, good size choice, 140 not needed unless super light winds/very heavy/low foil experience.
We are working on getting the compatibility between WS and SUP wings right, at the moment there is a slightly different setup on the fuselage to wing connection, which makes this impossible to swap wings between the 2. But you can of course just use the complete setup or change only fuselage+wings, use the same mast.
The only thing to remember is - for windsurfing, we have the front wings positioned a LOT further fwd on the foil, with a lot of space between the mast/front wing. This comes from the classic windsurfing boards having their fin boxes positioned further back. So most windsurfing foils are designed with the front wing as far fwd/longest fuselages possible. We opted for the US+Tuttle box option on the Sting Ray, hoping to implement only the US 4 way track system long term. This allows the foils to be mounted further fwd, which generally makes for earlier lift and flight. More experienced riders tend to move it back more, for more speed/control.
On the other hand, the trend on the Wingfoil specialised boards like the Sky Wing, is that the foil are mounted quite a bit further back now than on first SUP foil boards which were used for Wingfoiling. So this means with a long windsurfing fuselage, you may find the front wing is too far fwd if you try to use the Flow 1500 on the Sky Wing. Although this is probably not such a big problem as assume that would only happen when it is lighter winds, so maybe that is ok too. You could mount the foil all the way back in the boxes in that case. When using the shorter Aero SUP/WING 80cm fuselage and 1250 Aero Wing with shorter distance between mast and front wing, this is not a problem/the Foil/board are designed to work together.
Just to make it a bit more complicated :-) - our design team on Maui really likes the new Flow 1000 WS front wing on windsurfing, but also for wingfoiling. So if you were to consider a third front wing for stronger winds windsurf foiling, then you could use that in theory also for wingfoiling in stronger winds (just being aware as per above you need to use the complete Flow foil fuselage/back wing with that (mast you could use either 75cm Aero or 90cm Flow).
Hope I have not confused you more here! Whilst in theory, all windsurfing/Sup/Wing/kite foils should be compatible to one fuselage/mounting, our experience shows that each sport is very special and different in terms of loads/forces and rider requirements. So we are working on a programme to get things closer, but there is a logic behind the different thickness/strength fuselages and longer tails/shorter fronts etc...
good luck!
