Hi There,
hope all is good in these dry times.
I moved from Italy to Germany 10 years ago and since then I had much less time to go surfing regularly, I didn't bring with me my old windsurfing gear (single fin 85L wave board + freestyle wave 100L). During the last years, I would rather spend a few weeks/day per year travelling and renting on location (Le Morne, Fuerte, Guincho, Sardinia, Palekastro...). I had little exposure to multi-fin shift and new gear development and now I would like to renew my gear as I am planning to take some time off from work. Always loved Fanatic (my first wave board was a Fanatic Goya 82l with the sun on the deck!) so I would start from here.
I am an intermediate wave sailor, 35yo a bit out of shape with 85-88kg under the belly, I was capable to loop and enjoy cross (cross-on) wave riding as well as bump & jump and more freeridey sessions. I am looking for a combination of two boards that can ideally cover 4+ Beaufort conditions (from 6.2 to 4.2). I was mostly sailing 5.3/4.7 weather in the past but I feel I might need now a bigger sail to maximize time in the water (maybe for even Ostsee or lake around Berlin sometime).
Consider that I can start from scratch, which quiver would you suggest?I thought about 105 FreeWave (STB 2019 or 2020) and an 89 Grip (2019), what do you think? Too close to each other?
Is the Freewave too big for me in float and ride wave sessions? Will it plane much earlier than a 95l with my weight for more B&J sessions with a 6.2?
I usually bring only one board bag for travelling (Mauritius, Fuerte, maybe Cape Town) is the 89 versatile enough for my weight?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
Federico
