I've read through a lot of the recent posts so I THINK I know the answer.
I'm about 78kg and have a 86l freewave (starboard). This board covers a huge range for me and I use a small single fin to keep it loose. I made an error a few years ago selling my 80l which was a high wind wave and b&j board. I found an older 74l but I rarely use it and when I do, it needs to be LIT. I'm thinking the Grip 82. If I go smaller, the limited use doesn't justify the cost. Conditions are open ocean waves (not normally DTL), high wind. I'd say 25 mph+ but still in good control at say 35+ on 3.7. it would get more use at 4.5 and maybe 5.3 depending on the water conditions. Make sense? When I see it described as an all rounder, I'm drawn to it. But I feel a bit leary about a quad fin set up.
BTW - I have a '13 Skate and still love it! I'm hoping to find something as lasting as this but for a different sailing purpose.
