Just acquired a new 2019 Freewave STB and have been experimenting with different set up. Just wondering where does everyone find the best position for mast base on choppy/swelly water bump and jump? Also has anyone tried a larger, pointier single fin on the 85? I've noticed the stock thruster set up is a little bit on the slower side and since the 85 doesn't come with outer strap holes, I was wondering what'd be a good fin size for single fin flat water use without burning out my ankle and tail walking.
Kolbein i have a 85 STB TXTREME. Ive tried many sets ups and had put it up for sale. Then I tried a K4 20cm 3SW with K4 Shark II 10cm 1 degree toe. Night and day set up. Board is slippery fast with no drag. I pushed the fronts forward of center some and Mast track middle to 1 cm back. i haven't tinkered since Stock fins were tricky as spin out was an issue. I bought the updated center fin with the fin set forward which helped a bit but this 20 center with 10 fronts did the trick. good luck. kurt
Kurtvr7 Got it, thanks, I'll give it a shot. Came from Slalom so I guess my expectation was a little high and frustrated about I can't push on the fin to accelerate.
Kolbein Coming from Slalom a bigger center fin will really help. Multifin boards don't need so much back foot pressure. If you can find a dedicated freestyle board with a small fin to borrow for a few days, your technique will adapt quickly.
Hi Kolbein, try a slightly more upright stance, longer harness lines, less back foot pressure and just let the board ride, without pushing too hard on it.
