Foilstyler wind range

Hi Craig and the Team,
Hope you are keeping well, I am interested to know the wind range for the Foilstyler board, would you recommend a 1500 and 1000 Flow wing to get the max wind range?
I’m using the Stingray 110 currently with Heros but want to progress to a looser foiling experience with smaller sails ideally.

Are you launching a bigger foilstyler board in the Spring possibly?

Hi Timm,

No bigger Foilstyler planned for now, but we'll keep you posted. Yes, both foils will be good to have, as the 1500 is really good in super light winds. But as it's quite a small board, perhaps start with the 1000 first to see if you need the 1500 - once you are quite good at pumping the board and sail, you often do not need a bigger foil? Wind range also then really depends on fresh or salt water, sail size and for sure on how good you are at pumping the board up onto the foil? Normally the 1000 is good for the 12-20+knots days, whilst the 1500 is aimed at below 10knots- 15-20knots, depending on rider style as mentioned!

I have the 1000 flow foil currently and I sail in saltwater with sails from 4.2 to 5.7 so that combo would work fine.
I’m ok at pumping the foil but I struggle to keep the foil up around the gybes on the 1000 wing so I was thinking a bigger front wing might help.
Have you sailed the foilstyler board and how do you compare it to the Stingray 110 in terms of ease of use, wind range and suitability in choppy south UK coastal conditions?
I mainly wind foil in Poole Harbour so it’s flat but I want to foil more on the sea in the swell and hope this board might be a good option.

Hi Timm,

For keeping the foil up, yes the 1500 would be better at that - with the smaller boards it is always a bit trickier to stay up/gybe, for sure. Foilstyler I have sailed/winged myself yes, but mainly on flat water/same for StingRay 110 - I would think the outline of the new Foilstyler is perhaps easier to control than the StingRay in chop, being a bit more modern?

Hey Craig,

We have a guy looking into the Foilstyler, weighs 80 KG wants it for mainly light/medium winds 10-15 knots. He already knows how to foil , but I would like to try and help him to get a nice setup, as my foil experience is more towards wing.

So will the 93 will be good? And I was thinking of paring him with the carve 1400 for its turn and ease of use? Will be sailing at flat fresh water.

And also, will the 78 fuse will be good for that setup? Or do they have to get the longer fuse? For sure sailing in a bit more open sea faster enviorment, but maybe for this application this set up will be good.

Hi Emanuel, the foil styler is for use by fairly capable windfoilers, so I would take the Free 1000 actually as the best setup - and use the 90cm fuselage, you need the longer fuselage for windfoiling.
