Hi there,
for six years I am now back in windsurfing. Having done more surfing in the past - able to manage overhead surf. Being a very good all time snowboarder. Windsurfing I am back on water starts, getting into proper turns.
In windsurfing I am on a blast 130 with sail size 7,8 and 7,3, sometimes 6,6. Second board is a gecko 112 with sails 6,6, mostly 5,9 sometimes 5,3 when there is more wind. Corona locked I surf mainly not- wind- constant Lake Constance. Living directly at one of the possible west strong wind spots with little waves (1 - 1,5m wind waves) and sails down to 4,2 on exception 3,7 on veeeery stong shots.
Now I want to set the next step progressing in windsurfing getting into stronger winds and smaller sails, but especially start tackling smaller waves.
So mainly I will use the Freewave around here with sails 5,9 or 5,3 or 4,7 possibly 4,2 in smaller choppy waves.
I am wondering about the size I should go with the Freewave for? 115 an beeing able to even use it more planing and when the wind suddenly drops (which happens here a lot) down being able to get back to the beach - as the with Gecko 112.
Or take the 105, which seems the better addition within the quiver, for a more playful surf and using the described sail range more suitable?
With the 105 I fear with suddenly dropping wind not being able to water start or up haul and get back to the beach!?
I for sure want to use the Freewave with 3 fins - single is a nice option to have.
So go for 115l and maybe "get rid" of the Gecko112? Or the 105 as a fine, well selected addition? If the wave thing comes more into to game I would in the future think of an Mamba 104 or down to 94. But this is the 2nd future and addition then to the freewave.
Long story....
