Hi there, we have 2 types of Gecko, a LTD performance model which is lighter, stiffer and of course more fragile for direct impacts, as you'd expect from similar composite lightweight products like bicycles etc, needs to be treated with care.
Our second construction is a HRS Gecko, heavier, more durable for day to day use - but also here, if the users are constantly being catapulted/have less experience, then we reccomend a nose shield/boom cover or even the ION mast cover which goes below the boom (looks like an old school mast foot protector, my kids used them when learning and helped a lot).
Unfortunately many users expect the modern boards to have the same durability of the Thermomoulded models from the eighties, which everyone forgets weighed twice as much and were far narrower, ie less surface area etc. So while of course a small % of damage can be a warranty, the general durability of the both versions is ok, but to have less damages, the best is to take care of the gear and use as many different protectors as possible?
