Deck re-grip

Hi everyone,
FANATIC FREEWAVE STB TXTR 2018 needs a re-grip.Around the mast is a scale decal (sticker) which is for mast position. As the old grip layer came off so did the sticker. I think that is going to be the case with the rest of the stickers. Where can I get replacement stickers? Can I scratch up the new stickers so that I get good adhesion when I put on the re-grip without destroying the sticker. Thanks very much.

Hi there, sorry we don't offer these spare stickers but you may be able to just get it printed locally if you feel you need it? With the number of board models we have and the price of stickers to keep on stock, it's just not possible to keep each and every year on stock. Some good repair shops can actually print you the stickers if needed.

Good on ya Craig. I was hoping you were going to say something along those lines. I just did not want to get myself in trouble printing out a fanatic logo and all the other stuff. I think I can take the images off the web. Would that be okay? I am sure I can find a shop to print out the decals. Just in case can you tell me what to ask the printing company to print on. Is is vinyl ?

Hi Henry,

No worries - go for vinyl yes, normally with the right mix of resin, should be no need to scratch the decals to get the anti slip to stick! good luck there!

Hi Craig,
I ended up just painting over the deck and then re-gripping the deck. But now it looks kind of ordinary and I was thinking of doing it again. Any chance you have the original template for the board when it was sent over to manufacture? I was thinking of creating a stencil and then using paint to spray the decal on. Might be able to make it look kind of nice again.

Henry_1234 Hi Henry, you mean the original board graphics? Sorry but we can't share those? or did you mean the anti slip line?

I meant the thing that you can't share. Any chance for a high res picture of the board? Something that was used in the promo? I think if I enlarge off the Catalog, it's going to get very fuzzy.

Hi Craig,
wondering if you could help me out once again.
The board is about getting re-gripped for the 5th time. The first two times it was regripped by a shop using a spray gun and acrylic dust. The re-grip lifted slightly and then came off in big pieces (I could see it b/c the second time they painted the board white and re-gripped over the top).
Twice more I did the board myself, and the same thing happened. I am starting to think that it is very hard to get adhesion on the Innegra Carbon. I have successfully re-griped one section (I taped off one part near the mast base) the end result was the section looked more white than clear. But I can't recreate it.
Do you have any tips or tricks on how to get the epoxy to adhere to the Innegra?

hmm, that is strange - let me check with Dani/our supplier if they do some sort of different layer or treatment?

Dani mentions it is fairly simple, using UV proof resin and Quartz sand - is that what you used? I guess also depends on what you use to clean the surface between each new regrip?

Hi Craig, I'm so incredibly sorry I didn't have my email notifications on, so I was a tad late. I am using UV-proof resin, but I will get some different resin from a windsurfing shop. I am not using quartz sand but acrylic dust. I will see if I can find some sand. Do you have any idea what particle size sand to use? Also, something this bizarre that I have ponded, I have seen some of the old blokes use sugar so it makes me think that it is the impression that the particle leaves rather than the particle getting stuck to the board would that be fair to say?

Hi Henry,

not quite sure on type of Quartz, Dani mentions Nautix? I would advise to contact a local board maker to see what they do. Yes, the sugar option also work.
