Quite true, speed is nothing without control, not only on foils, but also fin sailing. Plus the "speed feeling" subjectively is so different to measured GPS speeds, which is why many riders will think a loose, lively setup is faster, when it fact it often is slower but just less controlled. Foil trim and setup is indeed critical, which is why we have put our front wings relatively far forward on the fuselages, to stabilise but also offer good lift and trim. Some brands need to make super long fuselages just to get the control and balance right, resulting in pretty heavy foils - in a recent German Surf mag test, our Aero 3.0 Alu + Aero Free WS 1000 set was lighter than any of the Carbon foil sets (under 5kg). Our Carbon foil setup + Aero Free WS 1000 set was 4.04 kg, I think the next lightest Carbon set was over 5kg....
