Hi there, just back from Sylt, chatted to the guys there about which boards they used - on the first day when the wind was perfect side shore all day and 4.2 weather, the guys all used Grips, Victor tried his Mamba there but the inside wave is just too hollow/close out. In the expression session yesterday on Sylt, dead onshore, Victor/Marco both rode Freewave 85 Textreme production boards, Klaas on a 2024 Mamba 85 proto - in those conditions, a Mamba or FreeWave are the better option.
But our new Grip is most definitely aimed more at all the spots mentioned above, with more rocker, softer rails up front, wide point moved further back, narrower nose etc. Of course the boards also work in onshore, but then you need more wind than for a Mamba or FreeWave. I have rarely seen a paying customer on a custom board in Cape Town, who actually has a level higher than a production board to be honest.
