New Quiver of foils

hey. I have being using Aero HA wings 1750, 1500 and 1250. I just got the 750 Carve.
I would mostly be Free styling on flat water where I would use the HA's (find the bigger ones add pop and glide) and had being using the 1250 HA for waves but wanted more grip for tighter turns hence the 750 Carve but I tried the 750 in messy east coast waves and it was too small or slow. What would be better for messier wind swell, a bigger Carve or a Free. I am 69kg and just pulled off my frontside 360 and backside 360 yesterday so good enough. So I want a free styling flat water foil, a messy 3 to 8ft wave foil. And something some down winders. I was thinking to replace all th HA, but should I keep any in your opinion. Cheers, Ant .

Hi Ant, thanks for the support first of all on the foils! I would think you should really get the 800/1000/1250 Free - even those these look fairly similar to your current Aero HA in 1250, they are a great set up and will be the best to combine with Freestyle/wave and having more lift and speed than the Aero Carve 750...

Hi Craig, So I have some guys that want me to train them up for Defi Wind on Fin,
they are 65kg 70kg and 81kg, I have been bouncing the options around for 2wks now and I am thinking the Jag 110l and 127l and a 116l Falcon, 2 of them need to crack their gybe still. I was thinking 107l Falcon instead of the 127l but for training when the wind is light, I think we will get a lot of use from the 127l and the 107 F might be too technical, Thoughts?
What sails would you recommend to get the best from these boards and will the gold mast be a good option or would the platinum be notably better?

Deadant Hi there, sounds great - I guess it depends really on the wind forecast but for those weights/Defi conditions, I used a 80L/99L last time I was at the Deli (76kg) - wind is super strong so I would not take too much bigger than 115...most people on 100L and smaller for sure....

OK, that was good to know, I will go smaller, 94l and 110l Jags but now cannot decide on a 127l Jag for practice or a 90/ 99l Falcon. my friend has an older Falcon 104l from about 2008 I got the Hawk 108l, are the new smaller (Falcon) sizes very different to the older, more specifically, harder to use?

I would not bother with a 127 size actually, there is either Tramontana of 20-25+knots, or no wind, that is how it has been the last years at the Defi. The newer sizes are not more difficult to ride no, in fact probably a bit easier, especially on tighter 90° courses like the Defi.

Yes I get what you mean but I am getting the 128l for training in Ireland, we will get more days on that then the 94l and I was thinking having the 3 sizes would be good for demo purposes.
And now back to foil 🤣 I just got back from the first Irish slalom event of the year and it was so light I used the wing foil and luckily got 1st wing foil and 4th overall. but now I have to hold the tital so whats the fastest wing/combo for 69kg guy? Glide? AND I have all sizes of Aero High Aspest. And it is most often marginal conditions but the ranked races have to have half the feild planing or lifting on foil. Thanks in Advance! 😄

Hi there, fastest for your weight will be the Glide 725 or the Free 800 - Free is a more allrounder, good for jumping and manoeuvres. Glide will start a bit later, but glide longer, is quite thin so it has a good top speed, I got it up to about 26knots, our top guys closer to 28.

Deadant depends how well you can pump!! but that is quite light...more like 12-14knots..foiling thru holes below 10 is no problem though...

Thank you craig, I got the 725 glide for if it is windy, got 18kts on first session, and bought the 905 glide and 1000 free as back ups and fun 😀 Glad I didn't go bigger, thank you! the Jags are great, 110l a firm favourite.
now to the waves 🤣 I have a 14yr old 65kg and I have got him in to waves over the past year, when we had them (east coast Ireland, mainly wind pushed swell but decent waves, when it happens). He has been on a 108l fsw and I want to get him something to progress on and will do him for everything, and I have a feeling he will put on a few kg's this year.He needs some work on gybes still and water start in rough condition, he seems reluctant to go small as he like the back up of uphauling, but can he pull of good jumps and rocket airs are his favourite. he is strong, been on 3.5m and flying in and out he can handle alot, need to lure him into carving the wave face he is still blasting on them.
Sorry for the long message but as a teacher and seller, I know the right gear choice at the right time can help a lot, for all of us 😁

My kids were also reluctant to change down from boards they could uphill to "water-start only sizes". But they have to take the plunge sooner or later as the smaller volumes are just much better for 65kg....so maybe a Grip 68/75

That great, I was thinking the grip but would those sizes work on under powered bogging out with big waves? 5m sail days?i have some smaller boards 75l, 82l. This is to replace the 108l on marginal days.
Also had a try on the 905 glide 22kn and then on the 725 G 24 kn supper stocked, for once I was racing with the windsurfers and keeping up and sometimes beating them (they were on Freestyle and FSW, But still).

Hi there, try him first with a 82L and then 75L, as if he is 65Kg at 14yrs old, he will soon outgrow a 68L....

Yes, overtaking windsurfers is fun, at least in terms of giving winging a bit of cred to the naysayers..:-) but a proper windsurfing setup will be hard to beat and still best feeling. Still it's nice to fly a bit faster and 24knots/44-46km/h is a good top end speed, I struggle to hit much faster than 25/26knots, regardless of which foil I use, they all seem to max out there for me.

Yes, I did not think I would enjoy speed on the Wingfoil but now I am loving it. It felt more like 'I' was maxing out, I hit a position that was super fast feeling, but soo intense trying to stay strong and tense above the knees and loose and reactive below but it felt like if I held it for more then a second something might explode 🤣 I had the take the board leash off.

Deadant hehe, I know the feeling -but if we see the progress already since the sport started in 2019, it is only a matter of time for all foiling sports to get faster and faster, especially wingfoiling as the "youngest"..
