What is the goal of the Freestyle Wave 115l board?

Hi Craig, I have a question that maybe makes nonsense but I am somehow newbie into this. I sail in the Mediterranean sea, so no big waves such as Hawaii etc 🙂. I sail mostly on flat and choppy conditions, and I am looking for a smaller (narrower) board than my Blast 130.
What is the goal of the Freestyle Wave 115l board? I can guess that the 105 is made for wave sailing but what do you do with the 115l?

Hi there, no problem - yes the bigger FreeWaves of 105/115/125 are still designed to be used in moderate wave conditions, as well as flat water bump and jump - and these sizes are more or less designed per rider weight - ie 90-95kg = 105, 100+kg = 115 or 125, depending on weight&experience - that is a broad generalisation, as many lighter riders also enjoy the FreeWave as a light wind board. But in general, the bigger the FreeWaves get, the closer they get to more flat water performance - but all of them will work in moderate wave conditions!

Thanks for the answer. Then if I could use the Freeride 115 (let's say) for choppy conditions, what is the difference then between it and the Blast 117 in reality? Thanks again!

Guiguit Hi there, FreeWave is an allrounder for Bump and Jump and moderate wave use, ie more manoeuvre oriented - Wave outline, rocker in tail, thinner rails. The Blast is a Freeride performance board, has a flatter rocker, straighter outline and is built for blasting/tight and fast turns, not made for wave use at all. So quite a different programme to each other. If you want a similar feel to your Blast 130, then the 115 is the best choice for sure.
