Blast HRS rust around fin boxes

Hi advice needed

Has anybody experienced anything like this ?

Not windsurfed in a year and got my 2 Fantic Blast 2021 HRS out of the garage and out of their bags at the weekend .
Shocked to find that both of them have rust stain patches around the fin box

Now they were stored dry without fins in them , the fins and bolts don’t have rust on them.

It’s like the black fin box paint is rusting or is it something else .

Surprised when I bought these boards that they don’t have vent screws and wondering if it’s something sinister like the boards have blown inside the fin box and brown residue that looks like rust is from within ?

Anyone have any thoughts ?

Hi there, sorry to hear that. sounds strange, have not seen that before - maybe it is water residue, but I imagine with some waterpaper it can be cleaned off fairly easily. The reason for the lack of air vent is that there is no PVC sandwich on the HRS board, so there is no expansion in heat - therefore air valve not needed, unlike the SLS/TE/LTD models where the PVC layers expand in extreme temperatures or in planes - although in 38yrs of travelling extensively by plane with the valves closed, have never had a single delimitation. However in a hot car, over extended periods, it is advisable to remove. Not needed for HRS however.
